FUTURE ISLANDS
Think of a liquored dreamer who fights reality until the last whisky-breath, aggressive only to achieve peace, the charming malevolence of Jack Nicholson, the ridiculous but faintly brutal Jimmy Carr, the threatening darkness of Ian Curtis - and you’ve almost got the lead singer of Future Islands. Imagine screamo vocals over shimmery electro pop and you’re almost there. Quite astonishing really.
I went to see them last night at Le Petit Bain in Paris - it only opened on Wednesday 6th July. It’s a permanently moored boat that’s been turned into a music venue/restaurant on Quai de la Gare.
